Getting married... Chapter 2

45 days later, I am finally ready to write about Chapter 2.

After the last attempt, I have had to run around KL getting documents and notary authorisation before rushing the documents to Hong Kong. Truly grateful to my WonderMum, she got the documents on a Friday morning, and her always accurate gut told her not to wait any longer, she picked up her keys and headed to the Government building that same afternoon. All these took place within three days.

Papers went in (to get another piece of paper) on the Friday afternoon. Two days later, Hong Kong government announced that all non-essential services will be (once again) suspended due to the rise of the Covid third wave.

Phew. We made it just in time.

Still, the wait was a good six weeks.

This week I finally got the paper I needed, we also decided to take no chance but made our reservation with the Malaysian government for the same week.

We arrived 45 minutes ahead of our scheduled appointment, just too eager to get on with it.

I have already mentally rehearsed: if this piece of paper to proof "I am me" fails to support the proceedings, I will just tell Shang, we wait until the aviation industry springs back to its full life, and just fly to Las Vegas and get hitched there.

After a bit of explanation, the officer finally asked us for the photo copies of the necessary documents, and this, was the first time I have remembered to breath again.

We finally passed the first stage: I got the approval letter from the government to allow me to get married in the country!

When I shared this long-awaited news to the close circles, I started getting congratulatory notes, calling me a Mrs.

Hang on... this is not even close to "it" yet! There are still at least two more chapters to go before we are legally binded. Having said that, I am learning how to take everything that life throws at you with a glee so yes, still worthy of a celebration so "Thank you everyone"!!!
