Before the "Rockers Four"
Not exactly the Rockers Four typical climbing holiday, not yet, when romance with Shang Shang was still in the budding stage.
This was my first climbing trip after taking the sport seriously. It was also the first time I discovered the serenity climbing trips bring.
The start of the Rockers Four
Just before the trip, I was at a career crossroads. A very attractive offer, involves heading back to my previous industry, which could mean back to the more glamorous work life, has been on the table for a few months.
Back to climbing the same shinny corporate ladder or stay to climb with an open mind (and open heart)?
Decision, decision, decision.
Things were going well with Shang Shang then. I wanted to see where this budding romance would take us. I have always been a hopeless romantic, but had rarely chosen romance over career. Something about this trip, climbing and spending time with him, had made me want to switch my priorities around. I struggled for the first couple of days with my head going crazy.
Then, I noticed, as I eased further into climbing, the climbing vibe consumed me more and more, I discovered the serenity this brought. With that, my head became less cloudy...
Decision made.
That was 4 years ago, and it takes writing about it for me to realised, that was quite a momentous trip:
I decided to stay in Malaysia to give the new relationship a good chance: this turned into a marriage-to-come.
The first taste of serenity from a climbing trip turned me into transforming all aspects in life with climbing as the core to everything.
With climbing running deep in our family veins, Rockers Four started venturing to more and more places building beautiful memories.

With these memories, I have found the way I would love to live my life, I have found the purpose of life: to live every day in wholesomeness with my heart full of Midlife Wonders.
